Weapon Proficiencies: Thunder, Quarterstaff, Wind, Fire  Mulcahy's parents were strong in their faith and the worship of the Dragons of Light. Being of the Third Estate living of what little they could make in Azudesce, their dream was to raise their first born child to join the clergy and bring the Dragons' honor to their family. They weren't superstitious people, in fact they largely looked down upon those who are, especially the traders that come into Azudesce from Keirnan. However they couldn't help but feel uncomfortable when their first child was born on March 13th, a day celebrating the Dark Dragons, and on a Friday at that. His parents tried to think as little of the strange coincidence concerning his birthday as possible, but every year the scattered celebrations of the Dark Dragons on his birthday were more than enough to remind them. Their son wouldn't gain respect and honor from following the Dark. During his younger years, Mulcahy showed great interest in the study of the Dragons and the scriptures. When he reached his early teens, unaware of his parents' plans to send him to the clergy, he announced his interests in joining the clergy, in the hopes that he could teach the scripture and lead others on the path of the light. Rather than directly encourage his actions, or let on that this was their plan for him all along, his parents feigned concern. They questioned him over if he was sure if this is what he wanted, and made sure he understood the commitment and dedication involved. Their attempts to dissuade his actions only further encouraged him and affirmed his intentions. On his 15th birthday he left home on a pilgrimage to Lucre to begin his training. His parents couldn't have been more proud. Throughout his training he dreamt of becoming a Guardian of the Altar, simply because it was the most prestigious position a priest could be assigned to. He trained for years before finally being promoted to High Priest at about the same time as another well-known priest in Megam, Rolen. Rolen was younger, had been in the clergy a shorter amount of time, yet was better liked and moved up in the ranks of the clergy much faster than Mulcahy ever did. When the time came to select the next Guardian of the Altar, Rolen was chosen over Mulcahy which did nothing to help his self-esteem or his hatred of the young up and coming priest. Mulcahy stuck around, tolerating his position in Megam. It's not that he didn't enjoy it, because he loved his job, but the young priest was always in the back of his mind, taunting him for not rising higher in the clergy. It wasn't until a few weeks later that he found out that not only did Rolen not accept the promotion, but he took a position in Atsiria of all places, running a small run down temple in the middle of nowhere, hoping to convert the godless heathens to the light. As if that were even possible. Despite being a candidate beside Rolen for the position, he wasn't even notified that Rolen declined and offered the position, instead it was passed on to another priest whom Mulcahy hadnever heard of. Over the next years he gained a Chaplain's License in hopes to travel the world and make a difference in people's lives outside of the small chapel he ran in Megam. Instead, Guardians of the Altar, Father Benjamin and Sister Freya, gave him the task of moving to a small rundown chapel in East Korin, clean it up, and get it back in action. He felt he might as well been shipped off to Atsiria and forced to work with Rolen. He had just finished moving in when his Ledger started talking back to him.  Mulcahy is very devout in his faith and likes to think of himself as fairly original when it comes to his preaching. One of his favorite sayings is that "faith alone won't sustain us," and he often preaches that "while the Dragons give us the means, but we must take it upon ourselves to make things happen." He's easy going and very socialable, spending much of his time away from his chapel and meeting with people on the streets. When he's at the chapel he's often much more guarded and hugging a bottle of strong liquor or fine wine, though he's rarely actually drunk. Mulcahy makes no effort to hide his shortcomings, though he does heavily blame them for his being shipped out to East Korin despite the fact he makes no effort to change. Mulcahy's other downfall is his temper, which often gets the best of him, especially after he's got his buzz going. He can sometimes be found mumbling to himself or to the dragons, either light or dark depending on his current mood, and is on a slow and steady fall from sanity. Despite his forced move and the dislike of his current position in the church he still tries to make the best of things, relying on his faith and the Dragons' Will to pull him through and always looking for new ways to bring worshipers into his chapel. He isn't exactly bitter about his being passed up for the Guardian of the Altar promotion and he realizes it's not the best position for him anyway and trusts the Dragons' true plan for him will reveal itself. He also trusts that those who are Guardians of the Altar know what's best. Although he has a bit of a hatred for Rolen, he also has a deep respect for the man who could give up a position as Guardian of the Altar in order to preach to those who are far from religious, though of course he would never admit this. Mulcahy is also under the misconception that Rolen can do no wrong and must have the largest following of any church in Atsiria.  Mulcahy has short brown hair that is rarely neatly combed and he usually has a weak five o'clock shadow. He dresses modestly as he feels money can be better spent in the dragons name then on his clothes. He has a strong, athletic build but average height and weight.
